MyDailyMoves

About MyDailyMoves

Childhood overweight or obesity is highly prevalent in the city of Amsterdam. The health risks of childhood overweight or obesity are serious and well understood. Therefore, the Amsterdam Healthy Weight Program started, with the aim: ‘In 2033, all children in Amsterdam should have a healthy weight’.

A lack of physical activity is one of the causes of overweight or obesity during childhood. To understand how children in Amsterdam can be stimulated in being physically active, it is of major importance to identify their physical activity patterns and contexts.

In order to measure this, valid and reliable measurement instruments are necessary. In addition, measurement instruments should be practical and user friendly. Because none of the currently available instruments meet these criteria, the aim of this project was the development of the physical activity measurement tool ‘MyDailyMoves’.

We executed this project together with the Amsterdamse Aanpak Gezond Gewicht.
