In the Netherlands – also specifically within academia – racism is deeply rooted. To fight racism in our research institute, in 2021 we started with the project I Act: Co-designing actions supporting racial justice driving inclusive implementation science. The main aim of I Act is to promote racial justice in academic culture and public health research by promoting 1) an inclusive climate within the Amsterdam Public Health research institute (APH) and thereby 2) inclusive implementation science leading to higher quality and more effective interventions and ultimately reduced health inequalities. In an iterative process using design thinking, we co-create actions with colleagues. The developed actions can be implemented in research and education.
