Laura Shanna Belmon
Health Scientist

After her bachelor graduation on Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam in July 2012, Laura completed the Premaster followed by the Master Health Sciences at the VU University with specialization in Prevention and Public Health. In 2014 she worked as an intern at the Amsterdam Public Health research institute (formerly known as the EMGO+ Institute), where she contributed to the Active2Gether project, a project that aims to promote physical activity among young adults by making use of mobile devices and social media. After her internship she worked as a data manager and clinical trial coordinator at the trial office of the AMC Amsterdam. Because of her interest in health promotion, she started as a PhD candidate at the section Child Health & Care Research of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam and the Public Health Service of Amsterdam (GGD) in June 2016. The project includes the development and evaluation of an behavioural intervention to stimulate healthy sleep behaviour among children aged 4-12 years in Amsterdam, guided by the Intervention Mapping approach.
